TASTE TEST
Cafe Clementine Tribeca NYC
227 West Broadway at White NYC 10013
"Clemen-TASTIC"
On a Monday off, I was wandering around Tribeca with my mother (it was a "Mommy and Me" sort of day.) Walking down West Broadway my mother pointed out this store. What caught both of our eyes was the simplicity of the outer-decor of the cafe and the petite name of the cafe.
After looking at the menu options (there were a ton!) my mother and I decided on 2 sandwiches (they had over 15 choices!)
I got a Clementine's Jerk Chicken Sandwich (with Jamaican Hot Sauce, Mango-Cilantro Relish and Grilled Red Onions.)
Thoughts: I particularly liked the mango, as it give the sandwich a sweet kick however, I did find the sandwich a bit salty and perhaps a little messy to eat. I did however like how the lettuce countered the hot sauce so my mouth wasn't on fire :)
My mother got a Mediterranean Tuna Sandwich (with White Tuna, Roasted Red Peppers, Olives, Garnished with Hard Cooked Egg and Romaine Lettuce.)
Her Thoughts:
My mother loves tuna salad sanwiches and she liked this one the best as the combination of eggs and olives was a surprising twist that she never thought of, but did compliment the meal famously. The tuna was very tasty and the crispness of the bread brought the whole meal to a close.

For drinks my mother settled for an iced coffee and I put out for a cup of ice water, as it was brunch time and I wasn't feeling any artsy latte.
For the decor, Cafe Clementines is not insanely decorated but, it makes up for it with its quaint aura and its speedy food delivery. All the staff members even wear adorable orange bandanas to flow with their "clementine" vibe.
Outside of the store there is a charming orange bench that really stands out in a picture. If you're looking for an Instagram photo with your photogenic coffee, this little bench is the perfect backdrop.
SUMMARY:
Pros:
- the food is very filling
- the price is more than suitable (ranges in the single digits)
- the food is prepared very quickly (you can be finished with your checkout in 5 minutes or less)
- you can eat food on marble countertops (perfect for a snapchat)
- there is a variety of food options (sandwiches, soups, salads, cookies, jams, etc)
- the 1 train is about a few hundred feet away (and the location in general is 100%)
Cons:
- the decor of the interior isn't totally Instagram ready
- there are limited seats to eat (about 8 seats)
- the food doesn't look like a work of the Renaissance
As you can see, the Pros definitely outweigh the cons and I hope when you have a chance and find yourself in Tribeca, you go check out Cafe Clementine.
Next time I am definitely trying the Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich (with Roasted Tomatoes, Roasted Peppers, Arugula, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic on Ciabatta)!
Love you lots,
MWAH
